Tata Harrier and 45X launch next year
By Somnath Chatterjee, Motor Trend India
Tata will have a busy 2019 with not one but two crucial launches for next year. The first would be the Harrier in January of course. Tata will launch the Harrier next year but the hype and the buzz is reaching next level- no doubt helped by the Tata PR drip feed. What we know so far and unless you do not have internet access or currently living in a cave, you would know all that is to know.
Just to refresh, this is a 5-seater SUV which is based on a Land Rover platform and would be the most sophisticated Tata Motors car- borrowing bits from its Land Rover big brother. Being based on a Land Rover, the off-road pedigree is sorted and also a dynamic polish. The key word is premium with a silver finish and a dual-tone colour scheme. Expect a lot of features like rear camera, drive modes, navigation, Harman audio, rear ac vents etc. In terms of engines there would be a diesel manual at start with a 2.0 diesel and a 6-speed set-up. Bookings are underway and we expect aggressive pricing between the Creta and the Compass.
Also due on the second half of next year around September would be its premium hatch that will be positioned above the Tiago and would Tata's rival to the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, VW Polo. It is based on the an all new architecture and has an all new design language dubbed as Impact 2.0. The production version will be toned down but the basic shape will stay the same.
